Thoughts: A X-rated video theatrical poem on stage in Rhodes island A video-theatrical poem by Angelos Spartalis is what "Thoughts" is all about. Premiering in March 22, the play inaugurates the National Theater's Experimental Stage in the island of Rhodes. It is a production of the Rhodes Municipal Theater that plays with the idea of the cohabitation of daily life with poetry, image with painting. Where? At the Municipal Theater of Rhodes, of course, for just three performances, until March 24… The play reveals a poet's thoughts about uniting contradictory elements and ideas in a visually remarkable way. Empeirikos' poems, modern art, the elections, the Parolympic Games, reality television, all mix up together when two tottaly different people start to share the same house and live under the same roof: Mrs. Helen and her tenent, the poet. At her hous, the poet recites "perverted" poems and with the verses he makes grafitti on the white walls. "Pederasy is not prosecuted in countries where it is lambeled as a National Product. It'd be like forbidding the Spaniards caning the olive trees… or the Americans caning the Arabs." Mrs Helen goes around holding a paint-brush to whiten the walls again; walls that project seven different video-thoughts… The play's director, Angelos Spartalis, is a painter, with a rich exhibition activity in Rhodes, Athens and overseas. At the same time he experiments with video and art performances. In Rhodes, he has presented his theater trilogy "The End of the World" (August 2000, April 2002, August 2003) at the Moder Art Center of the Museum of Contemporary Hellenic Art and in bookstores, bars and outdoor places around the city.
