"Mascot of the Museum of Modern Greek Art"

The third venue of the Museum of Modern Greek Art, the "Nestoridion Melathron" as it is called, has been inaugurated on the 29th of June 2002 and currently hosts part of the Museum's painting and sculpture collections. At the grand opening which was carried out by the Greek Minister of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralisation, Mr. Kostas Skandalidis, many renowned public figures from the Greek art field -artists, collectors, art historians, art critics and journalists- arrived in Rhodes.

During the formal presentation of the Museum by the rep. art director & art critic, Mr. Haris Kambouridis, the "Mascot of the Museum" was presented to the guests; a three-minute cartoon which illustrated -with a humorous manner- the three venues and collections of the Museum, as well as its activities concerning educational programmes and cultural tourism.

The emblem of the Museum created by the renowned Greek painter, Alekos Fasianos.

The new venue of the Museum: the "Nestoridion Melathron".

The second venue of the Museum: the historic Gallery of Rhodes.

The third venue of the Museum: the Centre of Contemporary Art.

Development of cultural tourism.

The design of the 'Mascot of the Museum of Modern Greek Art' and its cartoon, along with the complete development of a multimedia CD-Rom with texts, photos and videos, was assigned to me a few months prior to the opening. My idea was based on the original emblem of the Museum designed by the artist Alekos Fasianos. After choosing the small face that is included on the low right corner of the emblem, I have added on a body, hands and legs, wings and naturally movement and sound.

With the creation of the Mascot, the cartoon and the CD-Rom plus the design of the films for the banners and the t-shirts that were all produced for the opening of the 'Nestoridion Melathron", my professional relation with the Museum of Modern Greek Art as a multimedia art consultant has officially started.
